Hi, I’m Jannell!

I’m a passionate food creator and writer with over a decade of culinary adventures.

After 4 years in the making, I’m thrilled to present my debut cookbook My Best Friend Is Gluten-Free: 100+ Asian-Inspired Recipes for Bringing People Together!

Gluten-free cooking can be a challenge, especially in East and Southeast Asian cuisines where gluten is hidden in staples like soy sauce, gochujang, noodles, and dumplings. My cookbook overcomes these hurdles with fully gluten-free recipes that celebrate a spectrum of Asian flavors.

Inspired by my celiac husband, Reid, and wanting to share the foods of my Chinese-Canadian upbringing with him, I set out to create gluten-free options for all my favorite recipes, plus some creative takes of my own. Designing flavorful and inclusive dishes let me explore my own cultural identity through food in new and meaningful ways.

The result: this cookbook, with chapters that include salads and fresh bites in Tossed & Assembled, satisfyingly saucy pairings in Nice with Rice, crispy stir-fries in Fried & Sizzled, and easy Sweet Treats with textural flair.
